This glass block lighting project was completed in a home basement
conversion to an office/bar/bath. The lighting--multi-strand plastic
optical fiber--was installed into clear poly carbonate u-channel
between each course of glass block, including below the first course.
The u-channel was siliconed in place and the fiber bundles then
inserted into the channel. Both the channel and fiber were then
encapsulated in silicone. Illuminators--150W metal halide with 4
color/color wheels--were located in accessible areas. All fiber
optic was looped through the installation, with all ends beginning
and ending at the illuminator for even light distribution.
Materials Used for the Fiber Optic Installation:
- 700 ft. MS084/ Fiber - multi-strand - 84 fibers (1/2" dia.)

- 3/ea. 2405 Illuminator/, 150W metal halide, 4 color wheel, slave
